Signs of Aging??

5 things:

1.  Even presumably old people get up and give me their seat on the metro or the bus now.

2 . And the men often say things like "Wait'll you get old, you'll appreciate it."

3.  I'd guess I am 15-20 years older than they are.

4.  When I go to stand up, the person sitting next to me usually helps me.

5.  These things happen without my asking for them.

  1. Being helped by a stranger is a welcome act, even if you don't need it..

    1. It's very touching, especially when they give me a hand up.

  2. I notice that people keep an eye out for me sometimes, and it's always surprising.

    1. Surprising! that's what it is!! I don't think I look old and decrepit, but who knows? What else is surprising is that as late as last year, when someone stood up to offer me their seat, I'd smile and say "No, thank you....I'd prefer to stand--it's good exercise" or some other inanity.
But this year, I say "Thank you very much!" and sit down before the bus lurches and I start teetering. Feels very good to sit down.

  3. Here you are! Was depending on a service that sends blogs to my email. Decided to make effort to check on my own--moving slower lately. Good to hear old, old bus riders treating you so well.

    1. Welcome back! It's amazing how people reach out to each other on the bus here. Drivers, too. Happens on Metro, but not so much. (More tea party-types). You're moving more slowly now, too? I associate my sluggishness to
the g-d statin I have to take. For the past week, my knee has been killing me, and I can't walk well. Will try some CoQ 10.

  4. And yet strapping young men will stand with their arms folded while I manhandle an 8x10 wool rug into their car by myself. Guess I need to take for public transportation!

    1. this comment has been sitting on the "comment moderation page" for the past few weeks. I wanted to express my admiration for your strength--those big wool rugs are HEAVY!! and for your forbearance with the strapping young men, who were so lacking in social grace. what a bunch of yokels! sad.....their parents never taught them.
