5 things that I dislike about the beach: 1) the sand, 2) the sun, 3) the humidity, 4) the saltwater, and 4) the jellyfish. To each her own! You probably enjoy the beach enough for the both of us, eh?
i figured that was you, which is why I published it. we redheads don't like all that summer stuff, but I manage to endure it for one weekend per year. i should have been more specific. i like to look at the sand on the beach for all the wee shells, etc. and I like to walk at the edge where it's hard enough so you don't sink in. the sun--well, i need to remember my sunscreen goop, but I adore how it sparkles on the water. and creates gorgous clouds! the humidity? we have that here, thanks: 64% right now. the saltwater? i don't drink it, and i don't swim in it, either. wading's nice. the hotel has a pool with no salt!! yeah, jellyfish are nasty, but i can avoid them. I mostly love the whole scope of it. it's so BIG!
How marvelous!! we lived at a lake cottage on summer weekends--not at all like the sea, but i still miss it!! the little schools of bullheads, the cry of the loons, the swarms of bees (!), the chipmunks....the sounds of the wind in the cottonwoods (the Native Americans call them "the singing trees"). all, all. and oh, not to forget--the STARS at night, far from a town, were THICK in the sky. Not to mention the Northern Lights!!

P.S. I also like being at the interface (of sea and land), which is where life happens. Something like that.
DeleteI grew up by the sea. Just had to run down to hill and I was on the beach. I spent my whole childhood on a beach. I miss it so much!
